One could assume that Ashish, a topper in his Xth board exams, was destined to become an IITian, but who could imagine that he would become an Actor? He became both – an IIT Delhi engineer and a Bollywood actor! How did such a strange career jump happen? It was IIT that actually paved his path to acting.
Ashish was an ardent member of 2 clubs at IIT Delhi – Dramatics and Music Clubs. In the dramatics club, he did a lot of Hindi Plays, English Plays and Street Plays, as an Actor, Writer and Director.
Even then, he never thought he would become an actor. When he started working in the corporate world after passing out from IIT, then he felt disillusioned, depressed and aimless. He was sure that he could do this for sometime, but definitely not for a lifetime. He needed to love what he did. Upon contemplation, he realised that his calling was films – acting and filmmaking. That gave birth to his production company RedAsh Films and also to his acting career.
Ashish has been a professional actor in the Mumbai film industry for over a decade now. In these years, he has done leading roles with some of the stalwarts of the industry.
He started out doing lead role in a theatrically released Bollywood feature film “With Love, Delhi!” which had Padma Shri awardee Tom Alter, National award winner Seema Biswas and the veteran Kiran Kumar.
He recently did a TV series “Chalo Saaf Karein” in the leading role opposite Rashmi Desai of Uttaran, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa and Bigg Boss fame. It also had legendary actors such as Aruna Irani, Anita Raj, Raghuvir Yadav, Rakesh Bedi, Gopi Bhalla etc.
Ashish has also done the lead role in an Amazon Prime (US) film “Main Tumhare Bachche ki Maa Banne Waali Hoon”.
He has done leading and key roles in several other films – short films, web series, TV series, music videos, corporate films, ad films etc
